La_Gasparde_W.jpg (47 KB)It is said that La Gasparde is the nickname formerly given to a young and pretty widow, the owner of this estate that Baron Gaspard de T... her neighbour frequented all his life. The origin of Château la Gasparde dates back to 1776, when the estate was owned by Château la Pierrière.

A museum has been created in the new tasting room, furnished with frescoes of the Battle of Castillon, which in 1453 put an end to the Hundred Years' War, and signed the incorporation of Aquitaine to the Kingdom of France, as well as a collection of tools on the trades of vines and wine.

Painting of Laure de Gardegan known as "La Gasparde" by the painter Mitoire.

This château has become part of the wine-growing estates of the Joseph Janoueix family, which has made a major contribution to the reputation of the wines of Libournais for nearly a century. A great Correze family who never disowned their humble origins and who wrote - and continues to write - the most beautiful pages of the saga of the Correze winegrowers in Aquitaine.

For the Janoueix, the weapon of conquest is work and more work. In heather country, the soil is hard but the heart is strong.
