The Jean-François Janoueix family owns Château Haut-Sarpe, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé. Built along the hill and on the edge of the limestone plateau, this vineyard is one of the oldest and most famous in Saint-Émilion. The site has been listed on the map of Belleyme since the 18th century

Awarded a Gold Medal at the 1867 Paris World Expo, it remains worthy of the efforts and successes of Baron Henri du Foussat, its owner at the time. It was at this time that he, driven by his success, began to rebuild the castle and redevelop the park.

This building of great style, with its central pavilion inspired by the Petit Trianon of Versailles, has a beautiful appearance; it is in keeping with the spirit of this wine, Grand Cru Classé, and is very representative of Saint-Emilion's viticultural development at the beginning of the century and the tradition of quality that, today as yesterday, the children and grandchildren of Marie-Antoinette and Joseph Janoueix symbolise. From this exceptional site in the heart of the terroir of emotion, we discover 12 bell towers of the neighbouring communes.

The unique geographical location of Haut-Sarpe brings balance, elegance and depth. The wine merchant Pierre Beylot spoke of the "Cru de Sarpe" in 1750 and paid a very high price for his wines. In 1867, at the Paris exhibition, the owner of Sarpe was entered on the list of 36 Saint-Emilion wines that received the Gold Medal. Etymology of the word Sarpe: the emperor Roman Valerius Probus tried hard to cut and clear the bushes on the hillsides of the upper Saint-Emilion with bill-hooks so that the vineyards would be as close as possible to the sun.

As a tribute to the owners of Haut-Sarpe:

- Comte Jacques Amédée de Carles - Lieutenant General of the Armies of King Louis XVI then Marshal under Napoleon Bonaparte
- Comte Jacques d'Allard - Mayor of Saint-Émilion
- Baron du Foussat de Bogeron - President of the Société Historique de Saint-Émilion
- Joseph and Marie-Antoinette Janoueix - exceptional winegrowers.
